CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME


    Conscientization Program on 
'Drug Abuse in School' 
A Week Campaign at LVHS Pothencode
  
Introduction
       Conscientization or critical conscious is a popular education and social concept developed by Brazilian pedagogue and educational theorist Paulo Freire. It focuses on achieving an independent understanding of the world, allowing for the perception and exposure of social and political contradictions. It also includes taking action against the oppressive elements in one's life that are illuminated by that understanding.
               Thus from 3 July to 6 July 2018, we decided to conduct a conscientization program, a week campaign on drug abuse in school. To analyse the adverse effect of drugs and social, economical, mental, physical well being of an individual to prepare a questionnaire and distributed it among students to collect that up after analysing the collecedt data. After analyzing the data, the fact was revealed that most of the students are not aware about the problems of drugs and its adverse effect and thus we decided to conduct a week campaign on drug abuse among students. So programs were arranged with this end in view-
signature cloth, seminar, poster making competition, essay writing competition (English and Malayalam), musical skit.

First Day

        On the first day inauguration was done by CI Shaji sir, Pothencode along with head mistress Maya teacher by signing in the signature cloth against consumption of drugs with a message say mo to drugs. Teacher's and students also participated in it. In afternoon seminar was conducted by Naseer sir on 'Drugs and Youth', a class against the use of alcohol drugs and tobacco. We also made students to take oath against this evil use.

Third Day
      On the last day of anti drug week celebration, a musical skit was performed on the stage giving more importance to the bad affects of drug in our daily life. It was a successful one and this was enacted on stage by BEd trainees themselves. After that prize distribution to winners by Shaji sir CI Pothencode and Head mistress Maya mam. And thus with the positive message 'Say not Drugs' the program came to an end.

Community Living Camp 'ARAMAM' 2018 Prelude        In our fast-paced world of technology, camps expose young people to a different kind of environment a community based atmosphere in which campers learn about living, working and playing together.
