THE ALCHEMIST

          The book depicts the story of a shepherd boy, Santiago from Spain who is getting repeated dreams of treasure lying in the pyramids of Egypt. He embarks on a journey of finding the treasure after meeting an old man . In his journey he met different people namely - a merchant, Englishman, an alchemist, and love of his life. He keeps learning the important lessons of life while on his journey to the Pyramids. The main theme of the book is about finding and fulfilling one's purpose (personal legend) in life.The author has used notions like personal legend, Language of universe, soul of world etc frequently. The storytelling is captivating and interesting. The story tells us to keep faith and hope in all circumstances. Also the book not only emphasizes on achieving one's dreams but also lays stress on the importance of love, spirituality and faith in one's life.
Reading "The Alchemist" feels less like reading a book and more like sitting around a fire in the desert listening to an ancient story being passed down through oral tradition. Despite its meaningful content, "The Alchemist" is a very quick and easy read. Through Santiago's journey to treasure and love and travel, Coelho encourages readers to not only discover their own dreams for their lives, but also to never give up pursuing them. For in the quest, unexpected treasures lie.
The way book has been written is enough to make you escape the real world, to give you real life lessons and take you on the journey, journey towards how an individual is on search of life purpose and true love. I loved the how Santiago sets on his journey, faces hurdles, questions, finds the treasure, how he falls in love with Fatima. The characters are so well portrayed! This was one of my pick in my initial days when I began reading. It's been a long time, but whenever I pick this up it always feels I'm there in the mid of deserts in the midst of journey! One of an all times read to make you get refreshed, feel light with little emotional touch! The journey of Santiago, his meet with people in journey, find the treasure will all keep you intrigued.
The silver lining that garnered its millions of readers from across the world the line - "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it". 
Best read one!!!
